RUTH E. EISMONT
Ruth Eismont, age 99 of the West Mifflin / Duquesne, Pennsylvania area died on Saturday, February 8, 2020. She was born on January 5, 1921 in Boston, Pennsylvania one of four daughters of Carl and Melverna (Tyler) Reinert.
Ruth and her late husband, Frank were the owners of Eismont’s Garage in West Mifflin. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Duquesne for many years. In her younger years, Ruth was a prolific artist, working mostly in watercolors and oils and loved crocheting and knitting afghans, slippers, hats and scarves for friends and family. She also volunteered for many years at Homestead, Jefferson and Braddock hospitals and for Duquesne Meals on Wheels.
In addition to her parents and husband Frank George Eismont (dod: April 5, 1996), she was preceded in death by her three sisters, Isabelle Morris, Dorothy Erickson and Ida M. Taylor. She is survived by her two children, Richard (Carmella) Eismont of West Mifflin and Pam (David) Volk of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Erik (Kelly) Eismont of Jefferson Hills, Rich (Aimee) Eismont of North Strabane, Pennsylvania, Sean (Dianna) Volk of Thousand Oaks, California, Claire (Richie) Davis of Brooklyn, New York, and Emma (David Henderson) of Volk of Durham, North Carolina and five great grandchildren, Aubrie, Annalise and Kingston Eismont and Levi and Enzo Eismont.
There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends on Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 10 – 11 am at which time a Memorial Service will be held at 11 am in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 (412-384-0350). The Reverend Judi Slater of the First Presbyterian Church of Duquesne will officiate the service.
