LILLIAN EMMA PRICE

 

Lillian (Kolf) Price, age 91 of Forward Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, died at home with her daughter by her side on Thursday, November 25, 2021. She was born Lillian Emma Kolf on November 15, 1930, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania one of two children of Gustav and Martha Justine (Schaefer) Kolf

 

She grew up in the Mt. Oliver Borough in Pittsburgh and graduated from Brentwood High School. Lillian was Confirmed as a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mt. Oliver and later when she moved out of the city to the Forward Township area her family joined the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Monongahela, Pennsylvania. As a longtime member of Grace church, she typed the church bulletin, was a Sunday school teacher and youth group leader.

 

During the Korean War, as her husband Dan was in the Army, she worked for the Army in a Civil Service position in Missouri as a secretary / typist. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Monessen Chapter #205 and was a former Ruth Star Point. When her children were in school, she was a PTA member, Cub Scout Den Mother and Junior Girl Scout leader.

 

Lillian was also an excellent cook, well known for her Cabbage Rolls.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, Daniel Ernest Price, Jr. in 2011; her brother, Johan Kolf, her only sibling; her son-in-law, Thomas Pittard and grandson, Jeff Pittard. Lillian is survived by two children, son, Daniel E. (Yvonne) Price, III of Fredericksburg, Virginia and daughter, Virginia (Price) Pittard with whom she resided; three grandchildren, Joshua (Christel) Price, Jonathan Price and Alexandra Price and three great grandchildren, Sophia, Luke, and Olivia.

 

Family and friends will be received on Monday, November 29, 2021. from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com. Her funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 10 am on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. She will be buried in Jefferson Memorial Park cemetery in Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania next to her husband and parents.
