Ken McCormick age 86 of Elizabeth, Pennsylvania died on Thursday, April 8, 2021.  He was born one of five children of William Ray McCormick and Mabel Venora (Forsha) McCormick on May 15, 1934 in Elrama, Washington County, Pennsylvania.

Ken served 2 years in the US Army Special Service as a Missile Technician during the “peace time” between the Korean and Vietnam wars.  He was retired from General Motors Fisher Body Plant in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania after 37 years of service as a Tool and Die Maker, Master Craftsman.  After his retirement he was a school bus driver for Elizabeth Forward School District / Laidlaw Transit for 10 years.

He was a member of the Pittsburgh Racing Association as owner and mechanic of car #333; a lifetime member and Past President of the Elizabeth Forward Band Boosters and a member of the Tri County Trailblazers ATV Club.  Ken worked on small engines in his spare time and could build or fix anything, “except for glass or a broken heart” as he used to say.  He was “fair-weather” sports fan, enjoying any game as long “his” team was winning.

He was a member of the Olivet Presbyterian Church when it was in the Floreffe area of Jefferson Hills, PA and when it moved into West Elizabeth, PA.  He served the church as an Elder and the Clerk of Session.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents and his four siblings, brother, William “Boots” McCormick and sisters, Mary Barton, Helen Phillips and Doris Kildow.  He is survived by “the love of his life” his wife of over 64 years, D. Jacqueline (Garner) McCormick; their four beloved children, Lynd R. (Lisa) McCormick of Finleyville, PA, Kendal R. (Lenny) Miller of Dillsboro, IN, Curtis L. McCormick of Elizabeth, Linda L. (Richard) Plavchak of Belle Vernon, PA and their five grandchildren, Jason (Korey) McCormick, Shane McCormick, Jacob, Joshua & Ashley Plavchak.
