GLORIA  CERASOLI

Gloria Cerasoli, age 92 formerly of Clairton, Pennsylvania, died on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.  She was born Gloria Marie Cerasoli, in Clairton on September 16, 1928 one of seven children of Massimino and Donata (Chelli) Cerasoli.

Gloria attended Clairton High School, graduating in 1946.  She was a telephone operator for Bell Telephone and later a switchboard operator for US Steel, working at the National Tube Plant in McKeesport and the Duquesne Works, retiring in the mid 1980’s.

She was a devoted volunteer throughout her life.   Gloria earned a “Certificate of Caring” from US Steel for over 250 hours of volunteer service for the company.  At her church, St. Clare of Assisi in Clairton, she was always helping with the Bingos and fish fries.  She was also active helping the Clairton Meals on Wheels program, packing, driving and delivering meals.  Gloria was a member of the Clairton Italian Club and had many hobbies, including ceramics, line dancing, bowling, snow skiing, and traveling the world.

She was preceded in death by her parents; all of her siblings, sisters, Mafalda Pumello, Mary Sniadach, brothers, Dr. James Cerasoli and Guido Cerasoli and infant siblings, Ida and Natale; a niece, Dora Sniadach Leitch and nephew, James Sniadach.

Gloria is survived by nine nieces and nephews, Donna Pomella of Jefferson Hills, PA, Jean Pomella of San Diego, CA, Joseph Pomella of Dover, DE, Darlene Myers of MD, Edward Sniadach of FL, Massimino, Guy and Giancarlo Cerasoli all of CO and Jesse Cerasoli of SD and many great nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home, 1701 Route 51, Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 (www.stephendslater.com) on Friday, October 23, 2020 from 9 am – 10:15 am.  There will be a prayer in the funeral home at 10:15 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Clare of Assisi Church in Clairton.

Gloria will be buried in St. Clare Cemetery in Clairton with her parents and siblings.

If desired, Gloria’s family suggests donations in her name be made to South Park Meals on Wheels 6810 Hilldale Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15236, The Clairton Public Library 616 Miller Avenue, Clairton, PA 15025 or the church, Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, 460 Reed Street, Clairton, PA 15025.

Gloria never had children of her own; she was a warm, loving, funny, generous Aunt and role model to all her nieces and nephews!
