FRED WILLIAM MONINGER, Jr,
Fred “Bird” Moninger, age 48 of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, died suddenly on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at his home. He was born September 3, 1973, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania one of four children of Fred William Moninger, Sr. and Patricia (Metzinger) Moninger.
He was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in 1991 and later the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. He then served in the US Navy during the Persian Gulf Era. Fred loved woodworking and worked for the Carpenter’s Union, Local # 230 for over 20 years; he loved all animals, especially his dogs and cats; loved Drag racing, Penguins hockey and Steelers football.
In addition to his parents, Fred is survived by his wife, Rebecca Moninger; a daughter, Alexandra (Sean) Smith of Las Cruces, New Mexico; a grandson, Cade Isaac Smith; his three siblings, Tracy Topolnak of Monongahela, Pennsylvania, Brian (Andrea) Moninger of Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania and Richard Moninger of Clairton, Pennsylvania; his mother-in-law, Karen Walter of Endicott, New York; brother-in-law, Ebin (Karla) Walter of Endwell, New York; aunts, Janet (John) Beck of Michigan City, Indiana and Cindy (Fred) Zupanc of Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania; five nieces and nephews, Billy, Caley, Brianna, Liam and Hayden and many cousins.
Friends and family will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com for a Memorial gathering and service on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, from 1 – 7 PM. The funeral service will begin at 7 PM. Please wear a mask when attending the visitation and funeral service, thank you.

Fred was a friend and helper to everyone he met.
