O’CONNELL, DORSEY and CONSTANCE

Dorsey Downey O’Connell, age 82 died on Friday, February 25, 2022, his wife, Constance Ruth (Sturm) O’Connell, also age 82, had died a week before on Friday, February 18, 2022.  The O’Connell’s resided in Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania.

Dorsey was born July 9, 1939 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the only child of John and Ethel (Gibson) O’Connell.  He was a Nuclear Engineer for Westinghouse for 30 years.  He was an avid fly fisherman with the Beaver Creek Anglers; loved coaching soccer; racing motorcycles; traveling in a motor home with his wife and loved the family dogs.

Constance was born February 18, 1940, in Indiana, Pennsylvania one of two daughters of Charles Richard Sturm and Ruth Edna (Augustine) Sturm.  She was an Administrative Assistant at Dick Corporation for 20 years. She was heavily involved in the Beaver Creek Angler’s; loved her ladies Bridge Club group; loved to travel in a motor home with her husband and loved her dogs.

Having been married 61 years, Constance passed away first and Dorsey followed one week later.  Both were preceded in death by their parents and are survived by their son, Jason and his wife, Kim of Pleasant Hills and one grandson, Austin (Avery) Fryer of Monaca, Pennsylvania.

They are also survived by Constance’s sister, Jacquelyn (David) Stambaugh of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania; their nephews, Chris Stambaugh and Craig (Mark Arnold) Stambaugh; great nephew, Ethan and great niece, Caitlyn Stambaugh.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, February 28, 2022 from 4 – 8 PM in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills, PA 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com.  Their funeral service will be in the funeral home on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 10 AM.  They will be buried in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Uniontown, Pennsylvania with Constance’s parents.
