Obituary

DOROTHY  (LYNCH)  LESTITIAN

Dorothy M. Lestitian, age 80 of Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023.  She was born February 13, 1943, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Terrence Joseph Lynch and Helen Caroline (Hulse) Lynch.   She was 1 of 4 children and grew up in Whitehall Borough, Pittsburgh, PA, graduating from Baldwin High School in 1960.

Dorothy knew from a young age that she wanted to be a nurse. She attended South Side Hospital’s Nursing School, in Pittsburgh, and after graduating she stayed at the hospital as a nurse for 45 years. She married Edward Michael Lestitian in 1965 and they spent over 54 years together (Edward passing away August 12, 2019). She continued her passion for caretaking even after retirement while caring for her son for 12 years after he suffered a stroke. She also cared for her husband during his lengthy battle with cancer. We know Dorothy is rejoicing after being reunited with them both.

She loved to watch crime shows, mysteries, and Hallmark movies. Her contagious laugh brought joy to all around her. When she laughed, she laughed with her whole body.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Edward Michael Lestitian, Jr.  and a baby sister, Caroline Marie Lynch.  Dorothy is survived by her adoring daughters, Christine Lestitian, Colleen (Ron) Lestitian-Kihn, and Michelle (Tom) Anton; her seven grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of her life, Jacob and Shelby Lestitian-Howard, Austin, Alayna and Angelina Kihn and Ben and Ella Anton; her siblings, Peg (the late Frank) Adams, Terry (Bonnie) Lynch, William (the late Nancy) Lestitian, James (Ellen) Lestitian, and Kathy (the late Lenny) Eisel, and many nieces, nephews and their families.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, March 19, 2023, from 1 – 6 pm in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51, Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com.  Her funeral service will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023, at 10 am in the funeral home with Reverend Ken Barner of Crossroads Ministries in Library, Pennsylvania officiating.  Dorothy will be buried with her husband and son in Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery, Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania.
