BARRY  PAUL  GIDEL

 

Barry Gidel, age 74 of Elizabeth Township, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022.  He was born November 14, 1947, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania one of four children of Charles Leo and Germaine Agatha (Meister) Gidel.

 

Barry grew up in the Hazelwood section of Pittsburgh and graduated from Central Catholic High School.  He loved football, especially the Steelers; loved movies, especially Horror types and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Mae (Charok) Gidel (dod: February 21, 2017) and two of his siblings, brother, Richard “Dick” (the late Carolyn) Gidel and sister, Barbara Bartek.  Barry is survived by his two children, daughter, Bethany (Bob) Neal and son, Ryan (Jonita) Gidel both of Elizabeth Township; four grandchildren, Evan and Justin Neal and Sophia and Phineas Gidel; his brother, John Charles (Helen) Gidel; his brother-in-law, Bob Bartek and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Family and friends will be received on Friday, February 4, 2022, from 6 – 8 PM in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 9:30 AM in St. Joachim and Ann Parish, St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 101 McLay Drive, Elizabeth, Pennsylvania 15037, with Father Thomas Wagner Celebrating the Mass. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Barry will be interred in a grave with Carol in Calvary Cemetery in Hazelwood.
