BARBARA J. DAWSON

Barbara Dawson age 70 of Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania, died on Saturday, September 11, 2021.  She was born Barbara Jean Dziamniski on February 8, 1951, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania one of three children of Alex Albert Dziamniski and Helen Marie (Rush) Dziamniski.

Barbara, who loved dogs and her book club, graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, received a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in Special Education from California University of Pennsylvania.  She spent over 32 years as a Special Education teacher for the Baldwin Whitehall School District in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband, Edgar J. Dawson; two sons, Brian (Heather) Dawson of Jefferson Hills, PA and Bradley of Pleasant Hills; two siblings, Alex (Flo) Dziamniski of Whitehall Borough in Pittsburgh and Kathy (Bob) McCall of Jefferson Hills and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 (412-384-0350) on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM.  Her funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 9 AM with Reverend Dr. John Barker officiating.  Her burial will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania at 10:30 AM.

Barbara was devoted to her family, friends and helping all people.
