William Yanko

WILLIAM ANDREW YANKO

William “Will” Yanko, age 58 of Forward Township, Pennsylvania, died on January 28, 2023.  He was born on December 20, 1964, in Canonsburg, Washington County, Pennsylvania one of five children of William John Yanko and Mildred (Brilla) Yanko.

Will was retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer.  He spent his working time at SCI – Greensburg and later at SCI – Fayette.  He was a US Army Veteran; a Volunteer Fireman with the Jefferson Hills VFD and currently with the Elizabeth Township VFD #1 and an Honorary member of the Narrow Way Motorcycle Ministries and the Warriors of Chaos.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, David and Donald Yanko.  Will is survived by his wife, Shelley Jane (Ernst) Yanko; three sons, Wyatt and wife, Melissa Yanko, Tyler and wife, Kelsey Yanko and Brian Zalewski; two grandsons, Brayden and Dawson; sisters, Delores and husband, Michael DeLorea and Teresa and husband, David Walsh; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, El and Candy Ernst; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Craig and Lori Ernst; sisters-in-law, Barbara Yanko and Darlene Zimmerman; a great aunt, Barbara Juhasz; many nieces, nephews and cousins, and his four legged friends, three cats, Lilly Bow, Zsa Zsa and Simon.

Family and friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com on Thursday, February 2, 2023, from 3 - 7 PM.  His funeral service and Military Honors will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at the conclusion of the visitation.

At Will's request, please wear your jean jacket for his visitation and funeral service.

In lieu of flowers Will’s family asks for donations to help with funeral expenses.
