WILLIAM "BILL" GERWIG
Bill Gerwig, age 86 of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, died Friday, May 9, 2014. He was born, William Eugene Gerwig, on April 29, 1928 in Butler County, Pennsylvania. Bill retired from the Operating Engineers Local # 66 and was a long time member of the Port Vue United Methodist Church in Port Vue, Pennsylvania, where he sang in the choir and volunteered in the food pantry.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian (Weitershausen) Gerwig on February 12, 2007 and two half-sisters, Beverly and Evelyn and is survived by his five daughters, Beverly (Irv) Lindsey of Blairsville, Pennsylvania, Terry (Cary) Wagner of Williamsburg, Virginia, Debbie (Paul) McIntosh of Jefferson Hills, Lonnie Grossi of Whitehall Borough in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Becky (Bill) Brindza of Douglasville, Georgia; Eleven grandchildren, Samuel (Katy) Hiltabidle, Gail (Jason) Moore, Jennifer Murdoch, Bill (Karen) Corbin, Dan (Meghan) Corbin, Tad McIntosh, Rachel and Taylor Grossi, Dedra, Carl and Anna Brindza and eight great grandchildren, Grace, Juliet and Aiden Moore, Lucinda Murdoch, Mason Corbin, Taylor and Jake McIntosh and Alyssa Davis.
Friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 (Large) Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania on Monday, May 12, 2014 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM and on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 10 AM until the hour of service at 11 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Jody Dausey of the Port Vue United Methodist Church officiating. A graveside burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery in Pleasant Hills, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
