Dr. William G. Braun

Dr. William G. "Bill" Braun, age 101, of Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 2, 1924, in West Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Walter "Hoosier" and Mary “Mae” Braun.

Bill was a highly decorated, devoted WWII soldier. He served in the Third Infantry Division, 7th Regiment, 1st Battalion, Company D, and fought his way from North Africa to Burgess Garden. Following the war, he dedicated himself to medicine. Bill studied pre-medicine at the University of Pittsburgh and later attended Temple University for podiatry, going on to have a successful 51-year career. He was an active member of Pleasant Hills Church, where he found a sense of belonging and fellowship.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Dorothy Isabelle Braun, and their son, William Clark Braun. Bill is survived by his son, Daniel K. (Mary) Braun; nine cherished grandchildren: Heather (Monty) Mathias, Lindsay Braun, Hilary (Joshua) Ray, Kelsey, Joshua, Nathan, Benjamin, Jared and Zachary Braun; 5 great-grandchildren: Austin, Tyler and Landon Mathias, Becca and Elizabeth Ray, along with nieces and nephews who will carry forward his legacy of love and kindness.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, January 8, from 2 – 4 PM and 6 – 8 PM at the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home, located at 1701 State Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills, 412-384-0350. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 11 AM, officiated by Rev. Dr. Mark Whitsel from Pleasant Hills Church. Burial will follow in a private ceremony, with military honors.

Dr. William G. Braun will be remembered for his remarkable life, dedication to family, and his unwavering commitment to serving others. He leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
