WILLIAM A. FINN
William A. “Bill” Finn, age 86, of Glassport, Pennsylvania, died peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, October 7, 2014. Bill was born June 9, 1928 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, the only son of six children, of Anthony and Elizabeth Finn. He was a long time manager with A & P Grocery chain; was a Staff Sergeant in the U. S. Army who earned a Purple Heart during the Korean War; a member of the White Oak American Legion Post # 701 and a long time member of Queen of the Rosary Catholic Church in Glassport
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie (Bachisin) Finn and three of his sisters, Rose Mary Stematz, Elizabeth “Sis” Van Eman and Mary Lou Garrity. He is survived by his loving family, three children, son, William D. (Diane) Finn of Elizabeth Township, Pennsylvania and daughters, Kelly (Tim) Hartnett of Lincoln Borough, Pennsylvania and Kathy (Steve) Derry of North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Megan and Maura, Bill and Bob and Stephanie and Anthony; four great grandchildren, Rocco, Sylar, Zachary and Liam and two sisters, Doris Szerszen and Ann Hines.
Friends will be received from Noon - 8 PM on Thursday, October 9, 2014 in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania. There will be a prayer in the funeral home on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 9 AM with Mass of Christian burial Celebrated at 10 AM in Queen of the Rosary Catholic Church in Glassport, with Father Kedzierski officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow.
