William H. “Bill” Donnelly, age 91 of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 14, 2025. He was born William Henry Donnelly on March 6, 1934, in Clairton, Pennsylvania one of three children of John Joseph Donnelly and Martha Lee (Stillwagon) Donnelly.
Bill grew up in Clairton, Pennsylvania and graduated from Clairton High School in 1953. He served in the US Navy Reserves during the Korean War Era. He worked for Continental Can Company in West Mifflin for 40 years; served as the US Workers Union President and a Grievance Chairman and also worked for the Allegheny County Housing Authority. Bill was also a member of West Mifflin #3 Volunteer Fire Company and the Elizabeth Township VFC, Blythedale Station.
He volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America, serving as a Scoutmaster of Troop # 31, receiving his Woodbadge Award and his Vigil of Honor Award for the Order of the Arrow. He also volunteered for his local AARP Chapter serving as the President. Bill had a passion for doing many hobbies and crafts especially photography.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Carmel Jean (Cottone) Donnelly in 2017 and his brother John Robert Donnelly. He is survived by their three children, William H. (the late Leslie) Donnelly, Jr., Robert J. (the late Roberta) Donnelly and Carol (John) Arena; 10 grandchildren, Kristi Lee, Billy (Shantel), Ashley, Bobby, Reagan, Rebeckah, Riona, Nikki, Amanda (Ian) and Johnny (Melissa); 8 great grandchildren, Williams (Liam), Cullen, Gabby, Franchesca, Ryley, Sawyer, Lincoln and Camden; his sister, Martha Jane Gillispie and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 2 pm – 8 pm in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com. His funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 10:30 am. His burial will be private.
Bill’s passion was his beloved wife, Carmel, his cats, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
