VIOLA (GOODRUM) EDWARDS
Viola Edwards, age 94, died Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the Masonic Village of Sewickley, Pennsylvania. Viola spent most of her life in the West Mifflin, Pennsylvania area where she was born, Viola Grace Goodrum on August 12, 1920, one of six children of James and Britha Jean (Andrews) Goodrum. She was a life long member of the Lebanon Presbyterian Church in West Mifflin and a member of the Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Howard Edwards, Russell Meyers, Robert Weber and Edward J. Mattes and four of her siblings, two brothers, James and Arnold Goodrum and two sisters, Mary DaBaldo and recently, Hannah McDevitt on Friday, May 22, 2015, one day before Viola.
Viola is survived by three children, son, Arnold Mattes of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania and two daughters, Donna Kettish of Sykesville, Maryland and Karen (Jeff) Dowd of Fort Mill, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Lance Mattes of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, Dawn (Kettish) Schmidt of Galena, Ohio, Lori (Kettish) Banks of Sykesville, Maryland, Tracy (Dowd) Carrasco of Orlando, Florida and Justin Dowd of Fort Mill, South Carolina; thirteen great grandchildren and her remaining sister, Jean Hudson of Shalimar, Florida.
Friends will be received on Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 11 AM until the time of her funeral service at 2 PM in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania. The Reverend Robert Titus will be officiating. Her burial will follow in Lebanon Church Cemetery in West Mifflin.
