Thomas Carnes, age 88, long-time resident of Pleasant Hills and member of the Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2021. Tom was born Thomas Arthur Carnes in Monessen, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania on May 8, 1933, one of three children of Arthur David Carnes and Elizabeth (Bickerton) Carnes.
Tom grew up in Brentwood and graduated from Brentwood High School. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and worked over 35 years as a Driver and Salesman for Schneider's Dairy in Whitehall, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Tom was an active volunteer at his church and Meals-on-Wheels.
He was preceded in death by his parents and both of his siblings, sister, Margaret Sample and brother, Alan David Carnes. Tom is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara Ellen (Lovell) Carnes; four daughters, Nancy Carnes, Ellen (Frank) Marchilena, Jane (Craig) Smith and Laura (Dennis) Dzubinski; eleven grandchildren, Lauren Stewart and Branden Smith and Dennis (Amber) Dzubinski, Mary (Mark) Brehm, Annie, Cassie, Shelby, Tave, Belle, Ben and Jeremiah Dzubinski; and eight great grandchildren, Sloan, Georgia and Coleman Stewart; Logan, Eli and Lena Dzubinski; and Nora and Darla Brehm.
A Memorial Service honoring Tom will be held in the Sanctuary of Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church Old Clairton Road, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15236 on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church, Old Clairton Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
