Theresa Henderson

Theresa (Zitney) Henderson, 90, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family on Thursday, July 23, 2026

Born on April 13, 1936, in Monessen, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John M. Zitney, Sr. and Pauline (Kassa) Zitney. Theresa graduated from Clairton High School in 1954 and began her career at PICCO before later working for JCPenney.

Theresa was the beloved wife of Alvin Henderson. Together they shared 60 years of marriage, building a life centered on love, family, and devotion until Alvin's passing in 2017.

She is survived by her loving children, Beth Ann (Keith) Harvey and Alvin Jr. (Nadine Fuller) Henderson; her grandchildren, Morgan (Troy) Mackey, Kyler (Kara) Valecko, Christian (Dana) Mace, Jerett, and Brent (Stefani) Henderson; and her great-grandchildren, Vivienne, Troy III, and Pierce Mackey, and Karson Valecko.

In addition to her husband and parents, Theresa was preceded in death by her grandson, Trenton Henderson; her brothers, John, Jr. (Dolores Bickerton) Zitney and Edward (Mary Lapinski) Zitney; and her sister, Valeria Zitney.

Theresa's greatest joy was her family. She will be fondly remembered for her treasured holiday baking traditions, especially her homemade nut rolls, cold dough cookies, Easter cheese, and Christmas cookies. Family members eagerly looked forward to the holidays, knowing Theresa's kitchen would be filled with wonderful aromas and cherished traditions.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial Celebrated in Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, The St. Thomas a’ Becket Catholic Church on Monday, July 27, 2026, at 12 Noon. Theresa’s burial will follow in St. Clare Cemetery, Clairton, Pennsylvania.

The family wishes to express its sincere appreciation to the caregivers at Vincentian Personal Care and Bridges Hospice for the compassionate care, comfort, and dignity they provided to Theresa. Their kindness was a tremendous blessing to Theresa and her family.
