Scott Welsh, age 62, of Jefferson Hills, PA passed away at his home on Tuesday, 29 September 2026, with his family by his side. Scott was born on 14 August 1964, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, one of three sons of Robert Alan Welsh and Barbara Anne Welsh.
Scott grew up in East McKeesport, PA and graduated from East Allegheny High School in 1983. After high school, he entered the Navy for three years active duty and remained in the Navy Reserves for another three years. He became a Police Officer, working two years for the Wilkinsburg Police Department and 25 years for the Jefferson Hills Police Department, from which he retired. Scott loved riding motorcycles and was a member of Post 701 American Legion Riders in White Oak, PA. He enjoyed welding and woodworking and was a member of Elrama Sportsmen’s Club.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kimberly Welsh; one daughter, Larissa Estep-Welsh; two grandchildren, Liam and Mekkhi; his two brothers, Frank and Robert, Jr. Welsh; and nieces, nephews and in-laws. Scott was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, 5 October 2026, from 1 – 3 pm and 5 – 8 pm, with a FOP prayer vigil around 7 pm, in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home, 1701 Route 51 (Large) Jefferson Hills, PA 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, 6 October 2026, from 10:30 am until the time of his funeral service at 11:30 am in the funeral home. Scott’s burial with Military Honors will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA.
In lieu of flowers, if desired, Scott’s family strongly encourages donations to Dream Foundation (www.dreamfoundation.org), an organization “Giving life to final dreams”. Dream Foundation serves terminally-ill adults and their families by providing end-of-life dreams that offer inspiration, comfort, and closure. Scott and Kim were gifted to travel to San Francisco, CA to visit the city, see the Pirates play the Giants, and visit Alcatraz Island.
