Ronald J. Cathell, Sr. age 70 of Jefferson Hills, formerly of Port Vue, on Tues. April 9, 2013 at the Center for Compassionate Care in Mt. Lebanon with family by his side. Ron was born Feb. 17, 1943 in Etam, WV 1 of 2 children of Elmer J. & Marie (Peaslee) Cathell.
Ron worked for Westinghouse / Emerson Power & Water in Pittsburgh for over 38 years. He was a Webelos leader and volunteered for Port Vue Ambulance Service, Red Cross CPR Training, Guyasuta Fire Co. and was a member of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Lorraine (Osborne) Cathell; 4 children, Denise (Robert) Zurcher of Pittsburgh, Dawna Mainwaring of Port Vue, Ronald J. (Kerry) Cathell, Jr. of Glassport & Jennifer (David) Halliday of Jefferson Hills; 12 grandchildren, Anna Marie Mainwaring, Joshua Mainwaring, Jeffrey Mainwaring, Nicholas Mainwaring, Chelsea Mainwaring, Kaitlyn Zurcher, Taz Cathell, David Halliday, Jr., Daisy Halliday, Hannah Zurcher, Lilly Halliday, & Zander Cathell; 1 great-grandson, David Lesko, Jr.; 1 sister, Rebecca Melegari (Cathell) of Elizabeth; a family friend, Howard DeBord; & many cousins & a niece and nephew.
A reception of friends will be held Sunday, April 14th in the Stephen D Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 (Large) Jefferson Hills from 1 – 2 PM with a Memorial Service immediately following at 2 PM, Pastor Jody Dausey officiating.
