Rod Kushner, age 72 of Rostraver Township in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, formerly of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, died on Saturday, January 6, 2018. He was born on January 26, 1945 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania and grew up in Port Vue, Pennsylvania a child of Joseph and Elizabeth (Ivan) Kushner. A graduate of Penn State University, he worked 43 years as a Nuclear Engineer at the Bechtol Bettis Plant in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania. Rod was an avid golfer and bowler and the Commissioner of his Fantasy Football League.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Kushner. Rod is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rita (Prince) Kushner; two children, a daughter, Jennifer (Phil Falck) Kushner and a son, Joseph Kushner of Las Vegas, Nevada and three grandchildren Jessica, Preston and Cassidy. He is also survived by a brother, Bill Kushner of Sunset Beach, North Carolina; a sister, Nancy Kushner of Royersford, Pennsylvania and a sister-in-law, Joanne Kushner of White Oak, Pennsylvania.
Friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home (Large) in Jefferson Hills on Monday, January 8, 2018 from 3 – 6 PM and on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 3 – 7 PM. There will be a prayer in the funeral home on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 9 AM, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Thomas A’ Becket Catholic Church. Rod will be entombed in Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery in Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, Rod’s family suggests donations to the St. Thomas A’ Becket Catholic Church 139 Gill Hall Road, Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 or the Charity of your choice.
Rod was an avid believer in PRAYER – in his memory please say a PRAYER for someone in need.
