Robert “Bob” Engel, age 88 of Baldwin Borough and formerly of Brentwood Borough in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, died on Saturday November 25, 2017. Bob was born on September 5, 1929 in Pittsburgh, one of five children of Cornelius James “CJ” and Laura (Roth) Engel. He grew up in Brentwood and was a 1947 graduate of Brentwood High School; he served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War, attaining the Rank of Sergeant and with a love for music he was a member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA).
He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, his brother James “Bud” Engel, and sisters, Mary Lakits and Laura Obeldodel. Bob is survived by his son, Matthew C. (Beth) Engel of Cranberry Township; two grandchildren, Luke and Maxx Engel; his only remaining sibling, sister, Edna Mock of Indiana, Pennsylvania and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home (Large) in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 2 – 5 PM. At Bob’s wishes there will be a Blessing Service held in the funeral home at 4:30 PM during the visitation.
