Age 65 of West Mifflin , Pennsylvania died on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh , surrounded by family after a long illness. Robert was born October 20, 1946 in McKeesport , Pennsylvania a son of William Bert Cox and Mary Grace (Whalen) Cox.
Bob worked as a machinist at Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory in West Mifflin for 33 years, was a member of B.P.O. Elks #11 in Lincoln Place , V.F.W. Intrepid Post in West Mifflin and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era in the Tonkin Gulf , aboard the U.S.S Intrepid.
He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Lana J. (Baxendell) Cox; 3 Children, Gregory (Patty) Cox, Kathi (Rusty) Suprek, and Jeffrey Cox; 2 Grandchildren, Aaron Cox and Kylie Suprek; 2 Siblings, Timothy (Laurie) Cox and Herbert (Isabel) Cox and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Friends will be received from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM Thursday, December 15, 2011 and 9 AM until the hour of service at 10 AM Friday, December 16, 2011, in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 State Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania with Reverend Robert Titus of the Lebanon Presbyterian Church in West Mifflin officiating. Burial will follow in the Church’s Cemetery.
