Robert A. Bonacchi

Robert Bonacchi, age 94 of Clairton, Pennsylvania, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026. He was born on October 29, 1931 in Clairton the only child of Brunello and Emma (Ghelardeschi) Bonacchi.

Robert was an Electrical Engineer for US Steel at the Clairton Works, and in his retirement was a consultant for Comstock Engineering. For relaxation he loved listening to Jazz music and was a great fan of Notre Dame and Steelers football. Robert was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dea Giovanna (DiMattia) Bonacchi; their son, Bruno (Rosi) Bonacchi and four grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth, John, Lucia and Daniel Bonacchi. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Ida (the late George) Ward and brother-in-law Domenic (Joanne) DiMattia and many family members still in Italy.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51, Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com. On Tuesday evening at 7 pm there will be a Knights of Columbus Service during the visitation in the funeral home. Robert’s funeral will begin with a prayer on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 9:15 am in the funeral home followed by a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial in Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Thomas a’Becket Church. His burial will follow in St. Clare Cemetery in Clairton.
