Richard D. "Rick" Romano, age 58, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at his home in Fallowfield Township, Van Voorhis, surrounded by his family. Formerly of Floreffe in Jefferson Hills, he was born July 10, 1953 in McKeesport a son of Frank Francis and Nora Lee (Hines) Romano. Rick was a screening manager for Homeland Security at Pittsburgh International Airport, an MP in the U. S. Marine Corps with the rank of Corporal and a member of the American Legion, James C. Ford Post 949 in Carroll Township.
He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Penny (Zawalish) Romano; sons, Richard D. Romano II of Jacksonville, NC, Chris Pastore of Monongahela, Jeff Pastore of Mt. Pleasant and Steve Karan of Finleyville; grandchildren, Kane, Dylan, Aiden, Carson, Ethan, Kara, Noah and Hunter; brother, Frank Romano, Jr.; niece, Nikki and nephew, Frank.
Friends will be received on Friday from 2 – 7 PM in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 State Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills where his funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visitation at 7 PM. The Reverend Karl Petterson will be officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lung Cancer research.
