RAYMOND L. "RAY" O'MATZ
Ray O’Matz, age 86, of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, formerly of Clairton, Pennsylvania, passed away in his home on Monday, October 13, 2014. He was born, Raymond Louis O'Matz on May 13, 1928 in Hermine, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, one of three children, of Louis and Ann (Arch) O’Matz. He served in the Army during the Korean War; worked over 43 years for US Steel at the Irvin Works in West Mifflin and was a long time driver and the father of Renee O’Matz – Renee’s Flowers on Route 885 in West Mifflin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Jenny (Kondrosky) O’Matz; his daughter, Renee; one sister, Lorraine “Honey” Tiberio; one brother, Louis “Bud” (Sally) O’Matz and nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 - 8 PM on Thursday, October 16, 2014 in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, where his funeral service will be held on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 11 AM. Chaplin Colleen Riker of ViaQuest Hospice will officiate at the service. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery in Pleasant Hills, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
