Raymond A. Kolar, age 84, of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, passed away at home on January 12, 2026, with his loving wife, Mary Ann, by his side. He was born January 14, 1941, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, 1 of 5 children to the late Andrew & Helen Kolar.
Ray proudly served his country for 4 years in the United States Navy, spending 3 of those 4 years on the USS Lexington. After the navy Ray went to work for General Electric where he was a motor generator technician. He retired from GE after 40 years of service. He loved going to Navy Reunions, traveling to different states, enjoying his shipmates and reliving some of the most fun times of his life. He also enjoyed wood working, spectator sports (especially football), relaxation and having fun at the casinos. The greatest love of his life was traveling by car to every state in the USA, taking in the beautiful scenery of our great country, with his wife by his side.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy and her husband, George, Gerdich; and nephews, Andrew Kolar III, and Jeffrey Goodall. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann (Daniels) Kolar; siblings, Joan (Jack) Goodall, Andrew (Patricia) Kolar and Jerry (Rosemarie) Kolar; and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and second cousins.
Family and friends will be received from 2 pm – 8 pm on Thursday, January 15, 2026, in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home, 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills, PA 15025 (412-384-0350). There will be a Prayer in the funeral home on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 9:15 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Triumph of The Holy Cross Parish, St. Thomas A’ Becket Catholic Church. Military Honors will be rendered outside of the church following the mass.
