Ray Kloock, age 93 of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, died on Thursday, September 25, 2025. He was born Raymond Joseph Kloock in New Salem, Fayette County, Pennsylvania on March 18, 1932, one of nine children of George Samuel Kloock and Catherine Gertrude (Lawler) Kloock. Ray grew up in the Masontown area of Fayette County and graduated from All Saints High School.
Ray obtained his bachelor’s degree at California State College in California, Pennsylvania and a master’s degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He entered the military and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He served as a bodyguard for General Taylor during the war and when discharged, was a Corporal. In his working career Ray was a teacher, a vice Principal and an administrator for the West Jefferson Hills School District.
When not working, he loved hunting, fishing and working outdoors, but most of all he loved to learn!! He always said he would love to be a “professional” student if that was a thing. He was also a religious educator for many years at the St. Thomas A’ Becket Catholic Church in Jefferson Hills.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joann Sophia (Dropik) Kloock (dod: April 14, 2020) their son, Mark Raymond Kloock and six of his siblings, George Francis, Marie “Kitty”, Albert, Margaret “Peggy”, John “Jack” and Robert. Ray is survived by his daughter, Janice (Todd) Stewart of North Carolina; four grandchildren, Todd “TJ” Stewart and Courtney (Brad) Siver, Erica and Gauge Kloock; two great grandchildren, Avery and Charles; and siblings, Carl and Kay.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 4 to 8 pm in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com. On Wednesday, October 1, 2025, there will be a prayer in the funeral home at 9 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Thomas A’ Becket Catholic Church 139 Gill Hall Road Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025. Military Honors will be performed for Ray after the Mass on the church property.
Ray will be buried next to Joann in St. Agnes Cemetery Masontown, Pennsylvania in a private ceremony with his family.
