RAFAILA (FAIELLO) LONZO
Rafaila "Nana" Lonzo, age 99, formerly of the Hays section of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, died Sunday, September 1, 2013 at home in the Pleasant Hills section of Pittsburgh, with family at her side. She was born July 14, 1914 in Bobtown, Pennsylvania, near the West Virginia border in Greene County, the oldest of 8 children of Vito and Maria (Verno) Faiello.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Lonzo, her only child, daughter, Antionette and son-in-law John Yelenic, two granddaughters-in-law, Michelle and Carrie Yelenic and all of her siblings. Nana is survived by 3 grandsons, John (Kathleen) Yelenic of Holly Springs, North Carolina, Joe (Tracy) Yelenic of Apex, North Carolina and Ralph Yelenic of Pleasant Hills, with whom she resided; 11 great grandchildren, Tim, Katie, JAY, Kelly, Amanda, Antoinette, Allison, Megan, Thomas, Matthew and Nathan and many nieces and nephews..
Friends will be received from 2 – 8 PM on Friday, September 6, 2013 in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania. A prayer will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Angels Catholic Church in Hays at 10 AM with Father Robert Ahlin officiating. Her burial will be in Lebanon Church Cemetery in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania.
