In Loving Memory of Phyllis (Miller) Pastore
Phyllis Pastore, a remarkable individual, passed away on October 3, 2023, at the age of 88, in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania. She was born on May 28, 1935, in Jefferson Borough, Pennsylvania, and was one of three beloved children of Clair Elwood and Margaret Eva (Williams) Miller.
Phyllis was a cherished member of the Olivet Presbyterian Church in West Elizabeth, Pennsylvania. For more than three decades, she devoted her passion to educating young minds in the West Jefferson Hills School District, teaching at Lincoln, Jones, and Roosevelt elementary schools. In addition, she was an award-winning artist, with her artistic creations gracing homes both here and abroad.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Anthony “Tony” Pastore, who passed away on September 25, 2022. She also mourned the loss of her grandson, Bryan Anthony Pastore, and her brothers, Marlin G. “Moon” Miller and Clair Edward Miller.
Phyllis is survived by her four children: Mark (Marybeth) Pastore of Jefferson Hills, Jay Pastore of Sarasota, Florida, and Donna Bonavia and Paula (John) Peterson, both of St. Petersburg, Florida. Her legacy lives on through her two grandsons, Vincent Bonavia and Daniel Pastore.
To honor Phyllis, a Memorial Visitation of Friends and Family will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 11 am until 3 pm at the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home, located at 1701 Route 51, Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 www.stephendslater.com. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 3 pm within the funeral home. Phyllis will find her final resting place alongside Tony at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, Phyllis's family kindly requests donations to the Olivet Presbyterian Church at 726 4th Street, West Elizabeth, Pennsylvania 15088.
Phyllis's life was a testament to creativity, love, and dedication, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
