Norma (Castor) Hicks

Norma J. Hicks, age 87 of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, passed away in her home with her family by her side.  She was born Norma Jean Castor on February 9, 1936 in the Houston Run area of Washington County, Pennsylvania, one of eight children of Harry Alfred Castor, Sr. and Ethel Mary (Thompson) Castor.

Norma was a school bus monitor, a lunch aide and a crossing guard for the West Jefferson Hills School District for many years, retiring at the age of 83.  She loved her cats, especially, Nibbles and Smokey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Max William Hicks; Jr.; their daughter, Maxine Carol Moss, a great-great grandson; and five of her siblings, brothers, Harry Jr and Wilfred Castor and sisters, Margery Wilcox, Mae Edwards and Frances Leech.

Norma is survived by three daughters, Darlene A. Lennard of Crestview, Florida, Starlynne (Chas) Brandt of South Park, Pennsylvania and Bonnie (Kevin) White of Jefferson Hills; eleven grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren (and one on the way!); two great-great grandchildren; her brother, Charles Castor and sister, Carol Lasich.

Family and friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills, PA 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com on Tuesday, January 16^th, 2024, from 1 – 7 pm. Her funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, January 17^th, 2024, at 9:30 am. Norma will be buried in Round Hill Cemetery next to her husband.
