Michael Stanton, age 90, formerly of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, January 22, 2015 at his son, Michael’s home in Apex, North Carolina. He was born Michael Stadnicki September 17, 1924 in the Calamity Hollow area of Jefferson Borough (currently Jefferson Hills). Mike was one of eleven children of Bronislaw and Catherine (Lorencz) Stadnicki. He was a Platoon Sergeant in the Marine Corps during WW II and an Electrician for the steel industry by trade. Mike served as Mayor of Jefferson Borough (now The Borough of Jefferson Hills) in the early 1990’s, was a member of the Floreffe Volunteer Fire Department in Jefferson Hills and a member of the Clairton Sportsman’s Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helena (Prisbylla) Stanton, September 7, 2008, a grandson, Clinton Matthew Stanton and all of his siblings, Frank, Charles, Julius, Helen, William, Max, Stanley, Anna Mae, Joseph and Edward. He is survived by two sons, Michael R. (Colleen) Stanton of Apex, and Terry L. Stanton of Driftwood, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Tamara Bussey, Kimberly Coleman and Joshua Stanton and five great grandchildren, Samantha, Kristin and Jacob Bussey and Jennifer and Gavin Coleman.
Friends will be received from 3 – 5 and 7 – 9 PM on Monday, January 26, 2015 in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025. His funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 10 AM. Father Robert Boyle of the St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Jefferson Hills will conduct the service. Burial will be in Round Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth Township, Pennsylvania..
