MICHAEL J. “MIKE” KEREC, SR.

Mike Kerec, age 61 of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, formerly of Baldwin Borough in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 12, 2016. He was born on December 15, 1954 in Pittsburgh, one of three children of Michael F. and Margaret (Mazza) Kerec.  Mike was a proud member, for over 30 years, of the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local # 95.  He loved days of riding on his Harley and playing Miniature Golf with his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his four children, Dana (Justin) Fowler, Michael J. Kerec, Jr., Matthew (Dana) Kerec and Alicia (Brian) Smith; he was “Pappy” to three grandchildren, Marcus and McKenna Fowler and Landon Smith; he is also survived by his sister, Michele (Jim) Koleas; brother, Mark (Linda) Kerec; his children’s mother, Cathy Kerec and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills for a memorial visitation on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 3 - 8 PM.  A funeral service for Mike will be held in the funeral home Thursday evening during the visitation at 6:30 PM.  Mike will be buried in Calvary Cemetery in the Hazelwood / Greenfield section of Pittsburgh on Friday morning at 10:30 AM with a graveside committal service.  The Reverend Sandra Marsh-McClain, of the Jefferson United Methodist Church, will be officiating at both services.
