MAXINE  (STRAUB)  HOLLIS

Maxine Hollis, age 82 of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017.  She was born Maxine Ruth Straub on August 3, 1934 in New Castle, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania to Donald Everett Straub and Edna Louise (Beighley) Straub. Maxine graduated from Brentwood High School in 1952.  She had a lifelong faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ along with a loving servant’s heart.  She was a faithful member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church in West Mifflin for 57 years, where she served as a deacon and sang in the choir for decades.  She was also a volunteer at Jefferson Hospital for 35 years and a Meals on Wheels volunteer for 10 years. One of her greatest gifts and loves was painting and artwork, and she also loved to travel.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, and is survived by her husband, Bernard T. Hollis; three children, Don (Mary Ann) Hollis of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, Dean (Cynthia) Hollis of Baldwin Borough in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Deborah (Stuart) King of North Canton, Ohio; eleven grandchildren, Michael (Kelly) Hollis, Nicole (Ryan) Gorsak, Matthew, Jonathan and Julie (Andrew) Mack, Erica (Alex) Intihar and Elizabeth (Zack) Morgans and John (Lindsey), Andrew, Rachel and Claire King; five great grandchildren, Declan and Mairead Hollis, Brayden Gorsak, Grant and Callan Intihar and one baby girl on the way, and her sister, Roberta (Leonard) Boehmer of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Friends will be received on Friday, February 3, 2017 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 PM in Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home (Large) in Jefferson Hills. On Saturday, February 4, 2017 there will be a prayer in the funeral home at 10:15 AM with her funeral service following at 11 AM in Lebanon Presbyterian Church, 2800 Old Elizabeth Road, West Mifflin, Pennsylvania 15122.  The Reverend Robert Titus will officiate her service.  Burial will follow immediately after her funeral service across the street in the church’s cemetery
