Mary (Case) Schreiber, age 93, of Eastmont in Wilkins Township, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012. Mary was born July 27, 1918 in Belle Vernon, PA, daughter of Jesse and Clara Case. She grew up in North Belle Vernon, graduated from Belle Vernon High School in 1935 and the University of Pittsburgh in 1939 with a degree in Chemistry and Medical Technology. She later achieved a Masters in Bacteriology. She had a varied career in local hospitals, laboratories and private practices as a Medical Technologist / Pathologist and Research Chemist. She taught chemistry at Point Park College and retired after several years of lab work with Leukemia specialists. Mary was also an accomplished Pianist and served many years as a church organist.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerard J. Schreiber in 1999 and is survived by 2 sons, Jesse (Barbara) Case Schreiber of Johnson City, TN and Gerard L. Schreiber of Pittsburgh; 3 grandchildren, Steven, Scott (Jessica) and Susan Schreiber all of TN.
Friends will be received Friday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 PM in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 State Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills where her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 AM with the Reverend Judi Slater officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery, Belle Vernon, PA
