Mary Loretta Pavlik, age 96, of Clairton, Pennsylvania, formerly of Jeanette, Pennsylvania, died peacefully, surrounded by family, Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and James Miller in Pleasant Hills, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Mary was born March 25, 1918 in Jeanette, one of five children of Laurento and Luisa Filoconio.
She was the cherished wife of the late Steve Pavlik (dod: 1993) and also preceded in death by her parents and two of her siblings, Alfred Filoconio and Frances Basara. Mary is survived by her three children, sons, Stephen R. Pavlik and Thomas L. Pavlik and daughter, Lynn; five grandchildren, Stephanie and Nicole Szymkiewicz, Kristen Dawes, Stacey McBride and Melissa Barber; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alda McCartney and Lillian Ross and numerous nieces, nephews and “adopted” family members.
Friends will be received from 2 – 5 and 7 – 9 PM Thursday, November 6, 2014 in Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills. A prayer will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 9 AM, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Clare of Assisi Parish (the old St. Joseph’s building, Mary’s favorite), in Clairton. Burial will follow in St. Clare Cemetery in a grave with her husband.
Mary was as much a devoted wife as she was a mother and grandmother. She was a beautiful and determined woman who touched the hearts of everyone she met.
