Born in McKeesport, PA Mary Gail Lautner was a graduate of West Liberty University School of Dental Hygiene, California University of PA, and Penn State University where she earned her master’s degree in education. A Public-School teacher for 37 years in both Dental Hygiene and Education.
Mary Gail was predeceased by her husband, the late Edward M. Lautner, Jr. and her parents Mary K. Cutright and Kenneth G. Cutright. She is survived by her three children Amy, Eric (Debbie), and D. Scott (Kimberly); seven grandchildren: Kenny (Kailey), Lacie (David), Corey, Brayden, Chase, Dylan, and Tyler and one Great-Grandchild Kollin.
In addition to her family: she treasured the children whose lives she touched in third, fourth, or fifth grades, sending each a personal note upon their graduation from high school. Mary Gail loved theater arts, anything Marvin Hamlisch ever composed and was a compulsive reader of John Grisham. Anyone that ever sat down knew Mary Gail was an ultra-competitive card player. Mary Gail was avid traveler, preferring to cruise anywhere, she could get on a ship with her favorite Royal Caribbean Cruise line. She visited over 45 different Countries and every state in the United States in her travels.
Mary Gail was a member of Eastern Star, Women’s Circle, a Deacon, and an Elder in the Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Pleasant Hills Civil Service Commission for over 30 years. Mary Gail’s generosity was known by all as the proud host of the Red Dinner for almost 20 years for her widowed sisters.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 10:30am in the Sanctuary of Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church, 199 Old Clairton Rd. Pittsburgh, PA 15236. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to Jefferson Hills Recreation Initiative, 925 Old Clairton Road, Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025, or Gallagher Hospice 1370 Washington Pike suite 401B Bridgeville PA 15017.
