MARTHA  JANE  PETRAS

Martha Jane Petras, age 62 of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania died on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. She was born Martha Jane Nikolic on April 1, 1955 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania the daughter of John Charles and Mary Jane (Jenkins) Nikolic.

Martha was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in the West Jefferson Hills School District and went on to graduate from the Duquesne University School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as a Registered Nurse.  She worked as an RN at UPMC Magee Women’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and later became the manager of the Admitting Department.  She was a member of the CFU, a former Democratic Committee Woman for Jefferson Hills and was always involved with her children as football, soccer, hockey, baseball, softball and basketball “MOM”.

She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband, Tony Petras; her two children, son, John Paul Petras and daughter, Catherine Nikol Petras; her brother, Charles (Nora Ann) Nikolic; two brother’s-in-law, Cyril (Susan) Petras and Richard (Frances) Petras and a sister-in-law, Mary Petras.

Friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 (Large) in  Jefferson Hills on Thursday, June 22, 2017 and Friday, June 23, 2017 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM.  There will be a prayer in the funeral home on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Finleyville, Pennsylvania at 10 AM.  Her burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth Township, Pennsylvania.
