MARGARET  (GRAHAM)  MILLER

Margaret Miller, age 97 of Jefferson Hills, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 4, 2017.  She was born on February 12, 1920 in Jefferson Hills, one of five children of Paul B. and Margaret (Tepe) Graham.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Miller and her brothers Paul and Eugene Graham.  A loving mother and grandmother, Margaret is survived by her three children, Paula (Fred) Bowman, Lee (Janice) Miller, and Terry (Nancy) Miller; six grandchildren, Scott (Antonine) Miller, Karen (Joe) Calabria, Mark (Ann) Miller, Rick (Deborah Ratner) Bowman, Kimberly (Aaron) Nye, and Matthew (Breonna) Miller.  She is also survived by eleven great grandchildren in whom she took great pleasure and pride,  Rebecca, Kate,  Emma, Riley,  Joey, Abby, Logan, Mackenzie, Dominic,  Lena, and Francesca; two sisters, Ann (Don)  Zadach and Kay Ferguson and numerous nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Clairton High School, in Clairton, PA and Duff’s Business School in Pittsburgh, PA, Margaret worked for many years in the West Jefferson Hills School District as a financial secretary and secretary to the superintendent.

Margaret was a woman of strong faith, and her life was centered around the church.  She was a life-long and dedicated member of the then Beulah Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and was active in many groups.  She was also an active member in the Eastern Star and Amaranth.

Her interest in others caused her to gift beautiful handmade afghans to each grandchild and many family members as well as dozens of lap robes to veteran’s homes and blankets to the Linus Fund.  A love of books led her to volunteer for many years at the Jefferson Hills library.

Her love of sports took her to numerous TJ (Thomas Jefferson High School) games and she spent hours in bleachers watching various children and grandchildren playing sports.  She rarely missed a Pirate, Steeler, Penguin, or Pitt Panther game on TV and she loved being at the family cottage at Pymatuning where family get-togethers were legendary.

Friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills, on Friday, March 10, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM where her funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 10 AM with Pastor Floyd Hughes of the Crossroads Community (the former Beulah Baptist) Church officiating.  Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery in Pleasant Hills, PA.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Jefferson Hills Library, 925 Old Clairton Road, Jefferson Hills, PA  15025.
