Leota Ruffing, age 94 of Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2022. She was born in Clairton, Pennsylvania on January 9, 1928, one of seven children of Leonard and Emma (Bildhauser) Ruffing.
Leota was a 1945 graduate of Clairton High School and went on to graduate from Stenotype Institute in Pittsburgh. She then worked many years in the accounting department for PICCO / Hercules in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania. A member of the Clairton / Jefferson AARP # 1612, she was an avid golfer, skier, traveler and knitter as well as a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. Leota was a devout catholic and member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, now part of the Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Norbert, Joseph (the late Helen) and Ronald (the late Elizabeth) Ruffing; her sister, Kathleen (the late Charles) Yaksick and a nephew, Regis Ruffing.
Leota is survived by her sister Mary Jean Ruffing with whom she resided; her brother, Regis Ruffing; 11 nieces and nephews, Cynthia Ruffing, Carol Houseman, Kathleen Labuskes, Michael Ruffing, Eileen Elliott, Marjorie Yaksick, James Yaksick, Melinda Ruffing, Marcia Kania, Ronald Ruffing and Dana Turk; 13 great nieces and nephews and 5 great great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her 4 legged friend Chloe.
Friends will be received on Sunday, April 3, 2022, from 1 – 5 PM in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 (412-384-0350 www.stephendslater.com). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Monday, April 4, 2022 in Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, Holy Spirit Catholic Church 2603 Old Elizabeth Road West Mifflin, Pennsylvania 15122. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH . Her burial will follow in Mount Vernon Cemetery in Elizabeth Township, Pennsylvania.
