  KAREN GIEGERICH RODGERS  

Karen Giegerich Rodgers, age 64 of Georgetown, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 5, 2023, in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania.  Karen was one of six children of Paul Joseph Giegerich and Agatha Catherine (Schilling) Giegerich born on August 3, 1959, the twin sister of her brother, Ken.

She was preceded in death by her father, her twin brother, Kenneth H. Giegerich and brother, Thomas E. Giegerich.  She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Jody Rodgers; her mother, Agatha; two brothers, Martin (Susan) Giegerich and Paul S. Giegerich; her sister, Marie (Mark) Zarlino; her sister-in-law, Patty Giegerich, who was like a sister; eight nieces and nephews, Erin (Thomas) McCafferty, Dan (Cara) Giegerich, Nicholas, Miranda and Jessica Zarlino and Emily, Jacob and Luke Giegerich; also, many aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces and nephews and her four legged children, dogs Ben and Sadie.

Karen grew up in Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania, attended and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1977. She went on to college at Indiana University of Pennsylvania; then received a master’s degree from Duquesne University in Accounting and received her license as a Certified Public Accountant.  Karen held positions as CFO and Controller throughout her professional career.  Most recently, she held a long-term position as Controller at AirBorn Inc. of Georgetown, Texas.  Georgetown is where she met and married her husband, Jody.

 Karen loved taking cruises with Jody; enjoyed doing cross-stitch and quilting and of course, playing with her four-legged kids in her free time.

 She was loved and will be missed by all.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, from 3 – 7 pm in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 (Large) Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, in Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Thomas A’ Becket Church at 10:30 am.  EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH ON WEDNESDAY FOR THE MASS.

In lieu of flowers her family suggests donations be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
