JOYCE (BYERS) GHION

Joyce Ghion, age 73 of Elizabeth Township Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 22, 2018.  She was born Joyce Marie Byers on January 7, 1945 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, one of two children of Edward and Marie (Long) Byers.  She grew up in McKeesport / White Oak area.

Joyce worked as a receptionist for Univar (formerly Chemply) in Bunola, Pennsylvania during the 1980’ and 1990’s and was a Front Desk Receptionist for Springhill Suites in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Byers.  She is survived by her loving husband, Stephen Ghion; two children, Pamela (Jeffrey) Sullivan and Kimberly (Timothy) Santoro both of Pleasant Hills in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and her five grandchildren, Benjamin, Emily, Sean, Elizabeth and Victoria.

Friends will be received from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM on Monday, February 26, 2018 in Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home (Large) in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania.  A blessing service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 11 AM with Father Dan Maurer of St. Thomas A’ Becket Catholic Church officiating.  Her burial will follow in West Newton Cemetery, West Newton, Pennsylvania.

Joyce loved to travel and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
