JOHN  W.  WRAY, Jr.

John “Chick” Wray, age 83 of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2017.  John was born on July 30, 1933 in Jefferson Township (now the Borough of Jefferson Hills), Pennsylvania, to the late John W. and Winifred (Musser) Wray, Sr.  He was an installer for Bell Telephone for 38 years, a member of the Elrama United Methodist Church in Elrama, Pennsylvania, a member of the former Stone United Methodist Church in Finleyville, Pennsylvania, a member of the West Jefferson Hills Historical Society and the US Army Veteran Dixie Division.

In addition to his parents, John was proceeded in death by his first wife, Eleanor (Duro) Wray. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Brenda (Burkett) Wray; three children, Jo Anne (John) Krise, John W. (Kathy) Wray, III and Karen (the late Ronald) DeGrange; six grandchildren, Mary, John IV, Victoria, Samantha, Sarah and Wyatt; two siblings, Joyce (John) Spargal and Robert (Judy) Wray.  He is also the special uncle of niece, Sue (Phil) Upton.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 6 – 8 PM and Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 1 – 3 and 6 – 8 PM in Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home (Large) in Jefferson Hills, where his funeral service will be held on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 10 AM.  The Reverend Hal Dangel of the Elrama United Methodist Church will officiate at John’s service.  Burial will follow with a procession to Jefferson Memoial Park Cemetery in Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania.

In lieu of flowers, John’s family asks for donations to Elrama United Methodist Church or the West Jefferson Hills Historical Society.
