Boyd Sargent, 87 of Elrama, Pennyslvania died Monday October 7, 2013 peacefully at the Kade Health and Rehabilitation Center in Washington, PA. He was born April 11, 1926 in Monongahela, PA to the late John S. and Mary Elizabeth (McCune) Sargent. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Walker late of Clairton PA in 1967.

Boyd was a veteran of the Army Air Corps and worked as an electrician for U. S. Steel and Duquesne Slag before retiring. He was a member of the Elrama Methodist Church, Past Master of Stephen Bayard Lodge 526 Free and Accepted Masons, Gourgas Lodge of Perfection, Pittsburgh and Past Grand Tall Cedar of Al-O-Mon Forest 138. He was a life time boater and founding member of the Elizabeth Boat Club. He and his wife spent many summers on Deep Creek Lake and 10 Mile Creek.

Boyd is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth A. (Heffner) Sargent of Elrama; one daughter, Linda M. Sargent of Northfield, New Jersey; one son, William B. Sargent of Birmingham, Alabama and one grandson, William J. (Candace) Sargent also of Birmingham. The service arrangements will be made at a later date and will be posted on the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home website.
