JOHN  MARYNCHAK

John Marynchak, age 93 of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2016. He was born on February 17, 1923 in Elrama, Washington County, Pennsylvania one of 10 children of John and Anna (Hnatowska) Marynchak.  John served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater.  There he had duties in North Africa, Sicily and Italy.  He was an Electrician by trade belonging to the IBEW Local # 5 for forty years.  He was a member of the Elrama Sportsman’s Club and an avid hunter and golfer.  John could build or fix anything, one such project was his own house.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Agnes (Braum) Marynchak on July 4, 2011 and all nine of his siblings, brothers, Albert, George, Anthony, Joseph and Michael and sisters, Mary, Rose, Kay and Helen.  He is survived by two children, daughters, Trudy (Steve) King of Baldwin Borough, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Leean Greenwald of Jacksonville, Florida;  four grandchildren, Traci (Chris) James of Orlando, Florida, John (Tracy) King of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, Jason (Vera) Greenwald of Vandergrift, Pennsylvania and Chad (Dr. Karen Selk) Greenwald of Baldwin Borough;  five great-grandchildren, Emily, Olivia and Sophia James and Declan and Reagan King and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8:30 PM on Friday October 14, 2016 in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills.  There will be a prayer in the funeral home on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 9 AM, followed by  a 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in the Floreffe / Elrama area.

Interment with Military Honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township in Monongahela, Pennsylvania.
