JOHN “JACK” BARR
John Baird Barr, Jr., age 83, of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, formerly of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, died on Friday, September 7, 2012. Jack was born in Duquesne, Pennsylvania the only child of John Baird Barr, Sr. and Bertha Veronica (Huwalt) Barr on September 29, 1928. He was retired from US Steel and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Raible Barr; 3 children, Nancy (John) Russell of Leesburg, Florida, Kathy (Tom) Lumsden of Jefferson Hills and John (Kim) Barr of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania; 8 grandchildren, Katie (Graig) Marx, Eric Kubicsek, Julie (Matt) Magdic, Rebecca Lumsden, Scott Lumsden, Sarah Barr, Megan Barr and Lauren Barr and 1 great granddaughter, Molly Marx.
Friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home, 1701 State Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills on Sunday, September 9, 2012 from 1 – 3 PM and 6 – 8 PM. On Monday, September 10, 2012 a prayer will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Thomas A’Becket Catholic Church in Jefferson Hill at 10 AM, with Father Robert L. Seeman officiating. Entombment will be in the Jefferson Memorial Park Mausoleum in Pleasant Hills, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
