James Melis, age 61, of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania formerly of Dormont, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, December 17, 2012. He was born one of four children to Louis and Cula (Katsikas) Melis on August 20, 1951 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Jim was preceded in death by his mother and is survived by his wife of 29 years, Patricia (Powell) Melis; two daughters, Lindsey (Nick) Mihalik and Jennifer Melis; two grandchildren, Miles & Emily Mihalik; his father, Louis; three siblings, George Melis, Terry (Karen) Melis and Denise Melis; one brother-in-law, Gregg (Lisa) Powell and nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Friday, December 21st from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM in the STEPHEN D. SLATER FUNERAL HOME, 1701 State Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills. His funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 10 AM on Saturday, December 22nd with Father Nicholas Halkias officiating. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery in Pleasant Hills.
