James “Poppi” Marshall, age 76 of Mercer, Pennsylvania, formerly of Jefferson Hills, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, May 2, 2024. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA, James John Marshall, on December 20, 1947, one of three children of Irwin and Margaret (Haney) Marshall.
Jim was a graduate of Brentwood High School, in Pittsburgh, the class of 1965 and worked for US Steel at the Irvin Works in West Mifflin, PA. He and his wife, Sandra, were EMT’s for Jefferson Hills Ambulance service for which he also served as President. He was President of the Plantation Park Campground Board in Mercer for 15 years, from 2003 – 2018. He loved hunting, riding motorcycles and spending time with family, making them happy and smile.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandra G. Marshall on March 5, 2015. He is survived by their two daughters, Milissa Craggs and her husband, Kenneth, of Jefferson Hills and Tabitha Marshall and her partner, Victoria Thomas, of Bradenton, Florida; seven grandchildren, Nathan, Cody and Mackenzie Craggs and Cassey, Jay, Bre and C.J.; two great grandchildren, Naomi and Christian Jr. Lisica and his two siblings, Raymond (Pat) Marshall and Denise (Marshall) (the late Ed) Laboon.
A Memorial Celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, from 5 – 7 pm in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com.
Jim touched many lives with his kindness and love. He was an angel on earth prior to his death.
