Jack "Swede" Anderson , age 87, of West Mifflin , Pennsylvania died Tuesday, September 28, 2010 in Arden Courts of Jefferson Hills, Jefferson Hills , Pennsylvania . He was born John Eric Anderson, Jr. on February 18, 1923 in Duquesne , Pennsylvania a son of Jan Eric and Hulda (Eld) Anderson. Swede worked 42 years for the Union Railroad, was in the US Marine Corps, in the South Pacific during WW II and was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Duquesne, a member of the United Transportation Union & the former Duquesne Golf Club in West Mifflin .

He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Jean R. (Manor) Anderson; 2 sons, Jack (Barbara) Anderson and David (Carolyn) Anderson; 2 daughters, Janet (Dennis) Martinich and Donna (Michael) Babjak; 9 grandchildren, Jennifer Rosetone, Kristin (John) Weddington, Erica (Chad) George, John (Christy) Martinich, Suzanne (Kevin) McDade, Rebecca (Patrick) Boyle, Lauren & Emily Martinich and Bryan Babjak; 3 great grandchildren, Alyssa Rosetone, Madison George and Alexis Weddington; 1 sister, Phyllis Annamae "Sis" Gallatin; a niece, Nancy Douglas and a nephew, George Gallatin.

Friends will be received from 6 – 8 PM Thursday, September 30, 2010 and from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM Friday, October 1, 2010 in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 State Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills. His funeral will be held Saturday, October 2, 2010 in the First Presbyterian Church of Duquesne, Duquesne Blvd , Duquesne , Pennsylvania , with visitation from 10 until 11 AM in the Chapel and the service following at 11 AM in the Sanctuary with the Reverends Judith Slater and Maxine E. Jenkins officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be held in Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery in Pleasant Hills , Pennsylvania . If desired contributions may be made to Pathfinder Special Olympics.
