IRMA (CAPECCI) DiMARCO
Irma DiMarco, a beautician and life-long resident of Clairton, Pennsylvania, died after a long struggle with cancer on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the age of 78 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Torano Nouvo, Italy on March 22, 1939 a daughter of Marino and Alesandrina Capecci and at age 16 came to the United States in 1955 with her parents and siblings to be a part of the American Dream. Irma had met the love of her life, Domenic DiMarco, prior to immigrating to the United States, would return in 1959 to marry him and both would later return to America.
Irma is survived by her two sons, Phillip (Mary Catherine) DiMarco and Mark DiMarco, her three grandchildren, Christina, Domenic and Giuliana; her sister, Natalie (Matthew) Duymic. In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband, Domenic in 2008; a brother Angelo Capecci, a nephew Michael Capecci.
After having her two sons, Irma would go on to beauty school to become a beautician and open her own shop in Clairton, where she worked for over 25 years. While working as a beautician, she also worked tirelessly to help her husband and son, Phillip, build their family construction (DiMarco Construction Company) and landscape business (DiMarco Lawn and Garden Company).
Friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home on Friday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 9 PM. There will be a prayer in the funeral home on Saturday morning at 11:15 AM followed by a 12 Noon Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Catholic Church in Elizabeth Township. Her entombment will be in Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Irma’s family suggests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Irma was the quintessential Italian wife, mother, grandmother and sister who always put her family first and gave of herself to the end. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
