Gilbert Adams

Gilbert “Gibby” Adams, age 89 of Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at Jefferson Hospital after a brief illness. Gibby, formerly of Elrama in Washington County, PA, was born on December 11, 1936, in West Elizabeth, PA, Gilbert David Adams, Jr., one of two children of Gilbert, Sr. and Ida (Maple) Adams.

He was a member of the Elrama Community Church (formerly Elrama Methodist Church) for over 60 years where he had been a Trustee and President of the Church Board. Gibby was a 50-year member of the Elrama Volunteer Fire Company and their long-time Treasurer. He was also a member of the West Jefferson Hills Historical Society. And while being active in his community Gibby NEVER missed a sporting event for his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gibby worked his entire working career in food service, beginning at Haines Super Market in Pleasant Hills for 25 years and then retiring from Her’s Foods in Perryopolis, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 69 years, Nancy Lee (Rush) Adams; their 2 children, Karen (Bill) (Depretis) Aschenbrenner of West Mifflin, PA and Bryan (Debra) Adams of Donora, PA; 8 grandchildren, Justin (Lucy) Depretis, Ashley (Tony) Comer, Amanda (Marshall) Hill, Jessica (Michael McBride) Aschenbrenner, Matthew (Amanda Gallina) Adams, Megan (Ryan) McKenna, Timothy Adams and Jeffrey Kearns; 5 great grandchildren, Max, Charlotte, Molly, Brock and Griffin and his sister, Judith (Michael) Poziviak.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 3 – 8 pm at Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills, PA 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com. A Fireman’s Funeral Service will be held at 7pm during visitation. Gibby’s funeral service will be at the funeral home on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 10 am with Reverend Jude Urso officiating. Burial to follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Township, PA.
